Super Easy Step-by-Step Guide to Making a Mandala

HAVE YOU BEEN ADMIRING ALL THOSE BEAUTIFUL MANDALA’S? HAVE YOU BEEN AFRAID TO TRY ONE? WELL, YOUR IN LUCK. I HAVE CREATED THIS SUPER EASY BEGINNERS GUIDE TO MANDALA’S AND LAYERS JUST FOR YOU
I am here to tell you that you do not need to be an expert to do this. Making mandala’s is much easier than you might think. A mandala is simply several layers of cardstock stacked on top of each other. All you need to know are the basic operations of your Cricut machine. If you are able to cut one piece of cardstock out on your Cricut machine, then you can make a Mandala.
Let me show you how to make this super easy beginners mandala in a few steps.
- First, upload image from Design Space called Doily2 (pick any of these Doily images)

Next, select the color of paper to your liking (you do not have to use the color you see on the screen).

- I suggest using some of your scrap cardstock – something small is fine – like a piece that is 4in x 4in. Don’t over think it. Just grab what you have one hand. Really! We are just getting a feel for things at this point.
- Select the Make it Button in the Upper right hand corner. You do not have to make any changes.

- You should see the Doily image you selected in several different colors. Don’t worry about the colors, just make sure your scrap paper is big enough to cover the area needed.
- Hit Continue

- For the average cardstock I would select the medium cardstock setting

- Load your paper and cut out each piece.

- Remove paper from cutting mat. The pieces you don’t need should remain on your cutting mat. If not gently remove any pieces that did not cut out completely.

- Now, stack your images on top of each other. If you need to you can always look at the image on your canvas to see what piece goes where.
- Lastly, glue each layer together. Or if you want a 3d effect, use foam tape in between one or more of your layers.
See how easy that was. You have created your first mandala. It wasn’t as hard as you thought was it.

- Now, what I would like you to do now is to make another one. Only select different colors. If you have a lot of scrap cardstock go ahead and cut out 2 or 3. Then place all the pieces in front of you and start rearranging. You will be amazed at the different variations you can get. Try changing up just one layer. See how the whole image changes with just that one color change.
