MUST-HAVE SUPPLIES AND WHY YOU NEED THEM

DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT TO USE TO ATTACHED YOUR LAYERES TOGETHER?
Have you been thinking about trying to make 3D images and layering your designs? You won’t be sorry. It will take your crafting to a whole different level (pun intended)! Level? Layered? That is a pun right?! Who knows, but you will have fun that’s for sure. Just start slow and be patient.
Are you wondering what glue works best? What foam tape does everyone use? I am here to share with you the products I use and why. Please remember this is just what I use. What works for one person, may not work for another. Sometimes it is just trial and error. That is how we all learn.
In case you didn’t already know it, mandala’s take patience to make. There is cutting, stacking , layering, gluing and assembling (in the right order). Yes, you have to assemble them in order! Trust me, I too have put them together in the wrong order. Guilty as charged!
Making mandala’s does take some patience. There is a lot that goes into making one. Now, I am the first one to tell you I have patience, but not always. Like when it comes to watching paint dry! Ugh, NO! Well the same goes for glue. I do not want to have to sit and wait for glue to dry before I can move to the next step in a project.
This is why I love and highly recommend Art Glitter Glue. (it does NOT contain glitter). It is just the name of the product. This glue dries lightening fast. Like as soon as you put one layer on top of the other, it’s DONE. Really that fast. That is both the good and bad about it.
I use the glue sparingly and with the small nozzle tip that is sold separately (I think, or maybe in a combo pack). Anyway, if applied in a light, I mean really light coat as a little goes a long long way, this glue holds in an instant. There is usually no going back once you put the layers together. I personally like this. Some of you may not. If not this might not be the glue for you.
You can use a little more of the product and it will give you a little wiggle room. I am personally afraid that I will use to much as make my cardstock wet, so I don’t do that. But that is just me. I hate to spend so much time cutting something out to only ruin it with to much glue.
NOW TO THE DOUBLE SIDED ADHESIVE FOAM TAPE – Squares, Circles, rolls. Just like most products there are plenty to choose from. I have not tried them all. So far the products I have used have been standing up to the time/gravity test. Knock on wood (knock knock) I have not had any fall apart.
FOAM TAPE ROLL – I have been using this one I found on Amazon for a while. I like that it comes in a large roll as I tend to use it a lot and a lot of it. I find it nice to be able to cut it to the size I need. This is by far the most cost efficient choice.
FOAM SQUARES – These little squares are a life saver for quick, easy, detailed work. They are also more expensive and sometimes harder to find. They are a dream to work with. If you only plan on using them for a few projects these are great.
FOAM CIRCLES – These are basically the same as a square, just round. Big tip for these…see all the space between the circles? Use it! Cut it up and use it just like you do the circles. There is no waste in a sheet of foam circles or squares. You can use ALL of the sheet. It goes under something that won’t be seen, so it doesn’t really matter what shape it is. Bonus!
I know it is a short list, but this all that I use. There maybe a few others I have tried. If I find them at Joann’s or Michael’s on sale I grab some. But these days, I mostly shop at Amazon. I will add links to products below.
